Teacher License Recertification Information

Earn Your Teacher Recertification Points Anytime, Anywhere Through Shenandoah University's Distance Education recertification classes.

Partnering with Virtual Education Software, Inc., Shenandoah University provides distance learning graduate courses in a SELF-PACED format via an online download (computer-based instruction for teachers). These courses are to be used towards recertification of teacher licensure. Students may choose from an extensive list of distance education courses to meet the requirements for teacher recertification. These courses are either 2-credit or 3-credit courses.

Please note:  VESi courses are designed to be run online from a reliable high-speed internet connection (wireless connections are not recommended).  If you do not have access to a reliable high-speed internet connection, then VESI does have a CD-Rom format available.  If you require the CD-Rom format, you will need to request the CDs at the time of your registration.

VESI Recertification Course Information:

Requirements
These courses are for recertification purposes, NOT initial teaching licensure. You must be currently licensed as a teacher in order to take these courses. Check with the program contact listed below if you have any questions about a particular course.

Program Benefits
Earn graduate credit conveniently at home on your own schedule. These are SELF-PACED courses. You have 6 months to complete the coursework and submit it to Shenandoah.  In addition to the coursework a case study paper (or final project) is required with each course.

Tuition
Course tuition varies by the number of credits for each course.   Click here to see the list of available VESI courses and their tuition rates.

Here's how our VESI courses work:

  1. Register for the course (see below)

  2. The course instructions, syllabi and a link to your VESI course will be emailed to you within a few days after the registration has been received.

  3. You will test on each section of the course; those scores are sent electronically to VESI.

  4. At the end of the course there is a case study paper (or final project) which you will mail to Shenandoah University along with your course mastery certificate. Your final grade is a combination of the exam score and the grade on the case study paper or final project.

Registration Information
You may register for these recertification courses at any time; there are no registration deadlines. Click here  and download the Visiting Student Registration Information form.   Complete the form with your course and tuition payment information.  Please FAX your registration form to our Business Office.   Payment must be included with your registration form or you will not be registered for the course.  The course instructions, syllabi and a link to your VESI course will be emailed to you within a few days after the registration has been received.

VESi courses are designed to be run online from a reliable high-speed internet connection (wireless not recommended). If you do not have access to a reliable high-speed internet connection, then VESI does have a CD-Rom format available. If you require the CD-Rom format, you will need to request the CDs at the time of your registration.

You will have six months in which to complete the course.   Approximately three weeks after submitting your certificate of mastery AND your case study paper (or final project) to Shenandoah University, you will receive an email informing you that your final grade has been recorded.  Official transcripts may be requested at that time.
